Pretvornik urne stopnje v projekt

Hey there! If you’ve ever worked as a freelancer, designer, writer, or handy-person, you know the classic dread of tracking your hours. You set a timer, work your tail off, and then realize that because you got faster and more efficient at your job, you actually made less money. It feels backward, right? That is the major trap of hourly billing. It literally caps how much you can earn based on the clock, and it actually punishes you for being good at what you do. That is where project-based pricing comes to save the day. When you quote a flat project rate, you are selling the value of the finished product, not just your time. If you finish a gorgeous website in 15 hours instead of 20, you keep the extra cash because you did a great job quickly. But jumping from "I charge $50 an hour" to "This project will cost $2,000" can feel like throwing darts in the dark. How do you make sure you don't get burned by a client who asks for fifty revisions, or forget about the software subscriptions and taxes you have to pay out of pocket? This calculator is your secret weapon for making that leap with total confidence. It takes your base hourly rate and builds in realistic safety nets: a time buffer for when things inevitably take longer, an overhead cushion to cover your business expenses, and a clear profit margin so your business actually grows. It translates your hourly expectations into a professional, sustainable flat rate that keeps your business healthy and your stress levels low.

DigiCalcs delivers precision-engineered tools for engineers and STEM professionals.

1. 1Step 1 — Pop in your basic hourly rate — the minimum you need to make ends meet for an hour of work.
2. 2Step 2 — Be honest and estimate how many hours the task will take. (Tip: Write down your first guess, then add a little extra anyway!)
3. 3Step 3 — Choose a buffer percentage. If the client is known for changing their mind, bump this up to 20% or 30%.
4. 4Step 4 — Factor in your overhead. Think about your subscriptions, coffee, and tax obligations — 15% is a great starting point.
5. 5Step 5 — Decide on your profit margin. This is the extra cash that turns a job into a thriving business!
6. 6Step 6 — Let the calculator work its magic. It will give you a solid project price to pitch and show you your new, higher effective hourly rate.

• !Thinking 'hourly rate x estimated hours' is your final price (this leaves you with zero safety net for revisions).
• !Underestimating how long a task will take because you assume everything will go perfectly on the first try.
• !Feeling guilty about adding a profit margin, forgetting that a business needs profit to survive and buy new equipment.
• !Neglecting to track your actual hours once a project starts, which prevents you from adjusting your estimates for the next job.
