learn.whatIsHeading

A percentage represents a ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. The word comes from Latin "per centum" meaning "by the hundred." Percentages are used everywhere: discounts, test scores, tax rates, nutrition labels, and statistics.

Przewodnik krok po kroku

  1. 1Identify what you are given: the part, the whole, or the percentage
  2. 2Use the formula: Percentage = (Part ÷ Whole) × 100
  3. 3Rearrange for what you need: Part = (P/100) × Whole
  4. 4Always double-check by verifying the part is less than the whole (unless > 100%)
