Charles's Law states that at constant pressure, the volume of an ideal gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature (in Kelvin). V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂. Heating a gas at constant pressure makes it expand.

Stapsgewijze handleiding

  1. 1Always convert temperatures to Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
  2. 2Record V1 and T1; identify desired T2
  3. 3V2 = V1 × T2 / T1
  4. 4Pressure must remain constant

Uitgewerkte voorbeelden

Invoer
V1=5L at T1=300K · heated to T2=450K
Resultaat
V2 = 7.5L
5×450/300=7.5L
