Shrinkflation kalkulators

Have you ever grabbed your favorite box of cereal or a bag of chips, only to feel like it’s lighter than you remember? You aren't imagining things. This is called 'shrinkflation.' It happens when a company keeps the price of an item exactly the same but quietly reduces the actual amount inside the package. It’s a clever, if a bit sneaky, way for brands to manage their costs without causing 'sticker shock' at the checkout counter. Because the price tag stays the same, most of us don't notice the change until we get home and realize we're running out of product much faster than usual. Our Shrinkflation Calculator takes the guesswork out of your shopping trip. By comparing the 'old' price and size against the 'new' version, it reveals the true cost increase you're actually paying. Think of it as your personal shopping detective. It helps you see past the shiny packaging and clever marketing to find out if you're really getting the value you deserve. Whether you're budgeting for a family or just trying to get the most out of your grocery money, knowing the real per-unit cost empowers you to make smarter swaps, like switching to store brands or stocking up when you find a deal that hasn't been hit by the shrink-ray yet. This calculator isn't just for groceries; it's a tool for your peace of mind. By calculating the effective price hike—the difference in what you pay for every ounce or gram—you can see if a product has truly become more expensive per unit. It’s a great way to stay informed about how inflation is playing out in your pantry. Instead of guessing, you get clear, verifiable math that shows you exactly how much your money has lost in buying power for that specific item. It’s all about helping you keep more of your hard-earned cash in your pocket.

1. 1Grab the old size and price from your memory or an old receipt.
2. 2Look at the current, smaller package and its price on the shelf.
3. 3Pick your unit of measurement—make sure you use the same one for both (like ounces to ounces).
4. 4We calculate the old price per unit and the new price per unit to see the real difference.
5. 5The calculator then shows you the percentage increase, revealing how much more you're paying for the exact same amount of product.
6. 6You get a clear answer on whether you're paying extra for less.

• !Only looking at the big price tag instead of the small unit price on the shelf.
• !Assuming that a 'family size' or 'value pack' is always cheaper per ounce.
