Example 1CAMI 180 — smoothing a cutting board
Given:CAMI 180 grit
Rezultatas:FEPA P180, 82 microns, 'Medium/Fine' category — final wood prep before oiling
Great for general wood smoothing
Let's say you're building a handmade cutting board as a holiday gift. You want to sand it smooth before applying food-safe mineral oil. If your local hardware store only has European 'P' branded sheets, you can use our converter to see that CAMI 180 is a perfect match for FEPA P180. At 82 microns, the particles are just the right size to smooth out rough spots without clogging up the wood pores.
Example 2FEPA P1000 — headlight restoration
Given:FEPA P1000
Rezultatas:CAMI 500, 18.3 microns, 'Extra Fine' category — wet sanding plastic
Commonly used in automotive DIY kits
Cloudy, yellowed headlights are a safety hazard, but you can restore them at home with wet-sanding! A headlight restoration kit might call for P1000 paper. If you only have American-standard sheets on hand, our converter shows that P1000 is equivalent to CAMI 500 (about 18 microns). Knowing this prevents you from using a US 1000 grit, which would be way too fine and take hours of extra scrubbing!
Example 3CAMI 80 — tearing off old deck paint
Given:CAMI 80
Rezultatas:FEPA P80, 201 microns, 'Coarse' category — heavy scraping and shaping
Aggressive removal for rough surfaces
If you're tackling a peeling outdoor deck or porch railing, you need heavy-duty muscle. Starting with a coarse 80 grit (American) or P80 (European) is the way to go. Since these lower grits are virtually identical in both systems (around 201 microns), you can grab either pack off the shelf and get to work tearing through that old paint.
Example 4FEPA P3000 — polishing jewelry
Given:FEPA P3000
Rezultatas:CAMI 1000, 6.5 microns, 'Micro Fine' category — mirror-like polishing
Ultra-fine grit for high-gloss metallic finishes
When you're polishing delicate jewelry or metal crafts to a mirror-like shine, you need ultra-microscopic abrasives. A P3000 sheet has particles that are only 6.5 microns wide! If you tried to use a standard US 3000 grit, it would be even finer, while a US 1000 matches this exact physical size. Using the converter ensures you get that brilliant, scratch-free shine without guessing.
