What is Growth Velocity?

Growth velocity (cm/year) is the most sensitive indicator of growth problems. A child may be short but growing normally — reassuring — or normal height but growing slowly — which warrants investigation.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. 1GV = (H2 − H1) / months × 12
  2. 2Peak velocity: girls 8cm/yr at 11-12; boys 9cm/yr at 13-14
