Step-by-Step Guide

  1. 1Required final = (Target − Current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight
  2. 2If current grade = 78%, final weight = 30%, target = 80%:
  3. 3Required = (80 − 78×0.70) ÷ 0.30 = (80 − 54.6) ÷ 0.30 = 84.7%

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can't possibly reach my target grade?

The calculator will show a required score above 100%, which is impossible. This helps you understand the situation early and adjust your target or strategy.

How is the current grade calculated?

Current grade = sum of (assignment score × weight) for all completed work. Different courses weight assignments, tests, and participation differently.

Should I focus on the final exam or other work?

If the final exam weight is low (10–20%), focus on improving assignments. If it's high (40%+), the final exam becomes critical.
